Each step through the labyrinth leads inward toward your heart where you discover possibilities of what would make life more wonderful!
Walk the Peace Paths toward self empathy. Then create an even deeper understanding and connection by walking these same steps and imagining what
another person may be experiencing.
Step 1 Identify the situation in your life that you would like to work on. (I recommend you begin with a smaller issue and practice some before you go deeper).
Step 2 Form an Intention of connection and presence.
Step 3 Walk around the path identifying your beloved Outer JACKAL thoughts:
“What you’re thinking or saying about the other”. (i.e. Judgments, assumptions, & the like)
Step 4 Walk around the path identifying your beloved Inner JACKAL thoughts:
“What you’re thinking or saying about yourself”. (i.e. Judgments, assumptions, & the like)
Step 5 Observation: In one sentence, state what you heard or saw that stimulated all
your beloved Jackal thoughts? No evaluations please.
Step 6 Walk around the path identifying all of your feelings stimulated by your observation.
(Find an extensive feelings list at http://www.cnvc.org/Training/feelings-inventory)
Step 7 Walk around the path identifying all of your Needs/values that are not being met when you experience those feelings.
(Find an extensive needs/values list at http://www.cnvc.org/Training/needs-inventory)
Step 8 Write down your top 3 unmet NEEDS/VALUES.
~ Close your eyes and take 3 cleansing breaths.
~ Imagine each of your 3 unmet needs being met sometime in your life.
(Pause a few moments in between each need)
When you’re finished, notice what you’re feeling in your Heart
Step 9 From your heart, would you like to make a REQUEST of yourself or another?
The Next Step… EMPATHY
If you would like a deeper connection, repeat these steps and
imagine what the other person may be experiencing.
